Bathed in Blood: The Transfiguration of Ruxandra cel Rău | by Alex O'Connell Nov. 26, 2011 | You set the price! | 14744 words | Sample 30% |
| Author bio: In his formative years Alex O’Connell deserted from the French Foreign Legion after mistaking it for the British Legion and finding that it was far from an ideal place to find cheap beer and a quiet game of dominoes with the lads. Despite the bad memories, he still finds himself singing Le Boudin when he’s drunk. He is unsure whether he would be permitted to enter Canada and uses it as an excuse for avoiding Belgium. Rumour has it that he was thrown out of the Cork affiliate of the LA street gang the Crips for being way too mean. But as O’Connell sagely says, you shouldn’t always listen to rumours. To his enduring shame, in 2008 he was blackballed by the Hell’s Angels after turning up for a Chapter meeting on his BMX bicycle, explaining that his Raleigh Chopper was being serviced by his friend Eddie. This is not likely to be true as Eddie denies even knowing O’Connell. Satanists and the Catholic Church are united in their condemnation of O’Connell. The Satanists have excommunicated him but this is a step too far for the Catholics who fear his reprisals. O’Connell’s wife has asked for a divorce for her birthday for the last three years but he has always ended up getting her something cheaper. His children, Dubhlainn, his favourite, the other boy and the girl, Deirbhile, all claim that they are adopted. Unsurprisingly, O’Connell doesn’t like to talk about himself much. He is available for weddings, christenings and bar mitzvahs and works cheaply. Alex O’Connell lives in fear of vampire attacks. He believes his special O-negative blood group makes him an especially attractive target. *** ‘O’Connell’s my kinda guy. I’d fix him a Daiquiri and take him marlin fishing. I could listen to those vampire stories of his for hours… well until about 9ish. After that I get a bit tired.’ Ernest Hemingway. |

| Author bio: An avid reader from a young age, I started branching out into writing years ago. I started with several rather ambitious stories that were probably doomed to failure to begin with, above and beyond the personal circumstances that lead to me abandoning writing for years. Due to a chance overheard conversation while on the bus from school, an idea took root and I suddenly had the urge to write again. From there, my work has only grown -- and the future continues to look bright. Currently, I'm a web programmer looking for a job. Getting my degree was great, but it doesn't do me any good sitting up on my wall looking pretty! |

How to Escape the Medical Debt Trap | by Claire Moylan Nov. 09, 2011 | You set the price! | 11280 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: You Are a Writer “Why can’t you write like she does? It is not even her first language!†My fifth grade Portuguese teacher was scolding the class after reading my paper out loud. The assignment had been to describe a spring day. After she finished reading it, the class audibly sighed as I got more and more uncomfortable. She knew I was a writer. The class knew I was a writer. It was only I that lacked that confidence. Besides, my parents told me I would starve if I chose writing as a profession. So, I chose engineering instead. It wasn’t until the economy crashed that I discovered the true worth of my writing. It was the single thing that kept me afloat when no other jobs were to be found. I had found my calling, even though it had always been there. I had just chosen otherwise, for a time. It would have been far easier on me, if I had just embraced my calling earlier. I think that is true of most of us. We all have something special to share about ourselves, but we’re afraid we can’t express it properly. If you think there is something you want to express and can’t find the words, just email me at Moylan.claire260 at gmail dot com. I know how to take even the most disparate concepts and weave them into an inspiring and engaging story for others. Claire Moylan has been a freelance writer since 2006. She holds a Master’s in Transpersonal Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Engineering. Claire has lived in many places, including: Brazil, Africa, Mexico, and nearly all 50 states in the United States. She hated traveling for quite a long time, but now wants to travel again. She owns a cat called Shakespeare who tells her to lighten up all the time and insists that nothing is so serious that a good game of kitty tag won’t solve. People think Claire is funny, but most of the time she is just being herself and can’t help it. |

| Author bio: Lichfield Dean hails from the English Midlands. He is not from Lichfield, although it isn't that far away. A degree in astrophysics, a career in computer coding and being the drummer in several unsuccessful bands led him to the conclusion that the way forward was to start writing fiction. Science fiction, to be precise. So after a seemingly endless amount of time, a light-hearted science fiction novel emerged called The Garden Wall. And no, despite some claims, it isn't the world's first sci-fi/gardening crossover book, although a garden does appear very briefly at one point. |

25 Tricks Any Dog Can Do! | by Susan Day Oct. 30, 2011 | You set the price! | 4425 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Susan travelled around the world twice before she was seven years old. It was the sixties and the cheapest way to circumnavigate the globe was by cruise ship. All alone, it seemed only fitting that the wonderful events she experienced and places she visited on these journeys be recorded for history. Thus, her story telling skills began. Firstly, to Rupert Bear, her lifelong companion, and then to a host of imaginary friends and finally to her pet dog once the family finally set down roots in Australia. From her Irish heritage she learnt how to tell a good story well and the importance of storytelling in the re-living of her family’s past and present experiences. Her mother taught her that a good story should make people laugh then cry. But if you can make people cry with laughter then you’ve achieved something worthwhile. |

The Cigarette | by Conrad Lovelle Oct. 27, 2011 | You set the price! | 2183 words | Sample 50% |
| Author bio: Conrad Lovelle spent his early years in a small town rich with cultural diversity. In difficult times during his childhood young Conrad learned to escape through reading and fantasy. Eventually his storybook readings merged with friends' accounts of far-off lands and a Romantic was born. Conrad's taste outgrew the confinement and simplicity of the small isolated town and at age 15 he answered the call of his wanderlust, leaving home with just $12 in his pocket to hitch-hike 1000 miles to the nearest West-coast city. Those seeds of his childhood led him to many cultures and into many homes and hearts along the way. Writing romantically (sometimes with impish delight) to express his own feelings and experiences was an early passion for Conrad and throughout the years he has written about love and life's processes; about events that have occurred and encounters that have endured, and those that have faded away. |

A young university student is charged with murder. His guitar string is wrapped around her neck. His shoe prints are left at the scene. Her earrings found under his bed. Her husband hundreds of miles away. But what really happened...? Ray is working on two more novels. The first is about a disfunctional family struggling with the fallout after both parents suddenly pass away and a fight over the assets ensues, eventually uncovering the possibility that one of the deaths was no accident. Release date fall 2012. The second novel also due to be released in the fall of 2012 covers the circumstances of two young boys who savagely murder their parents. The boys plead gulity to what they've done but will not reveal why. The two soon escape the detention centre and the hunt is on for the two as they seek shelter and cover in the forests along the Rocky Mountains as they fight their way back to their home in Bluffington where the murders took occurred. What really happened in that house and why were the boys so determined to go back to that house at all costs? If reading fiction novels with a bit of sci fi, mystery, and romance appeals to you, then I hope you take the opportunity to enjoy The Bluffington Four. If it's detective murder stories, then Extreme Malice is a much faster paced novel but still a warning for some content may be disturbing to some readers. I am also sure Ray would love to hear any feedback that you would care to offer. |
