Grandpa’s Little Red Barn

by

J.R. Murdock

From his hospital bed, Grandpa slid his thin hand into mine. His face once wise and strong was now weak and gaunt. Nearly all his hair had fallen out and the pigment of his eyes had all but disappeared. He tried to talk and lift his head, but didn't have the strength for either.

"It's okay gramps. I'm here." I struggled to fight back the tears.
