Ned was the type of person that simply floated through life waiting for it to end, it was all pointless after all, wasn't it? Work, eat, sleep, drink himself into oblivion, none of it mattered in the end. The problem, being the nihilistic fool that he was, he had no use for foresight. Foresight would have saved Ned quite a bit of suffering, but what does it matter anyway right?
